here is our new page! tomorrow evening between ten and halv past eleven we will enter the dimly lit stage at a venue called Funhouse here in Oslo to play a releaseconcert celebrating our first album Harlekin. It has taken us over two years to get to this point and sitting here at the eve of it makes a nostalgic son of a gun like myself look back trough time and think about the events that have taken place troughout said two years. I remember recording the drums in a studio in Fredrikstad, Østfold called greenroom together with Mads Golden from All Friday and the newly started Kid Icarius in the summer of 2006 and how we started recording KeatonGuitars at Rockehuset in Halden, Østfold before playing some really cool concerts around Norway and Sweden (mostly in Norway). After that we moved to Oslo and all of us got new lives in a way. Per had to stay in Fredrikstad a year due to military service and Antonè who played bass at this point, started to work as a bartender at a nice place called Gloria Flames. After I had worked one or two months as a kinderguardian, me and Keaton started working as constructionworkers at all kinds of forsaken sites trough a place called Losang A/S. If you feel like working your ass of and get payed the same day this is the place to go. I, personally (and I think I speak for Keaton as well) will never set me feet there again..
The year of 2007 was a mediocre year for FORK. We played some concerts and recorded some guitars and some bass from time to time (we were slooow) but also had some things going our way in the form of the song November getting in the finals of the Urørt contest, but in the end losing to Ida Maria. I hear she is doing great today, reaping the profits of her glorious victory. We started working together with Andre Jensen on the cover of Harlekin and changed our rehearsal place on more time. There we recorded most of the guitars and they were pretty much done at this point, not counting blazing guitarsolos and some of the licks im sure you will find on the album.
Sometime around here Antonè found that he wanted to part ways with the band seing as we all had new things to think about and that it wasnt really the fun it used to be. After some days (maybe a week or two) we had some rehearsals with my brother Oscar and it worked out almost at once. He knew most of the songs in advance and we pretty much decided it worked out when he was out scoring dope for the band. Big brother is now pretty much the band. Antonès last concerts where in Halden and Oslo the day after together with the great bands Smash the statues and Antillectual. I see now that this is four months into 2008 so either im forgetting alot of things or few thing happended with FORK these days besides scattered recordings, concerts and hanging about in Ass-lo. Im guessing both.
After Oscar joined the band real early this summer and Per Morten finally finding a new nest in this partly crappy town we somehow managed to complete the album. Thanks to extremely kind help from Even Bekkedal who did an amazing job gathering all of the files from all the different sessions, putting them in order and mixing them it also sounds really good. He also does guitarduties for oslobased Post-grind band Manhattan Skyline. Check it out! in this space of time (meaning before the mix) we completed the album by recording some more stuff in Rockehuset, namely Lucifer will fucking kill you even thou you are a christian together with technician Laurits Mosseby ( bass-fucking-magician in GøTTeMiA and Garden) and we also recorded all the vocals and the last of the guitar and bass on the album in Fredrikstad together with Rune at Silvertone. It was hard work that payed of. Besides this there was some patching here and there that was done in some of our appartments and another studio in Oslo together with Johan Heva Larson in AllFriday and Mads Golden. So its safe to say that the mixingpart was a motherfucker. We mastered the whole thing in Sweden at cuttingroom and after Andre Jensen (Kaipai) was done drawing, painting, digitalizing and enhancing the coverart we printed it in Germany I think. It looks great now and tomorrow it will be buyable from us here at Skullstar and also the recordstore Tiger here in Oslo. You can also contact Christer Jensen at Tonehjulet or send a mail to enavalle@gmail.com. We will send it to you.
Using two years recording an album also has its positive sides. We have enough new songs to do an encore and nearly enough stuff for a new album.. So there wont be long before we have even more stuff the torment the ears everyone with. Noone likes punkrock anymore anyway so there wont be no tours waiting for us. We will have loads of time doing nothing here in Oslo as usual. But if any of you would like to see us play in your hometown, livingroom, practiceplace or anywhere else we welcome you to tell us. We dont really need much more than beds, food and something for the road.. And if any band you know needs gigs here in Oslo/Norway/Østfold let us know and we shall try as best we can to make it happen. But first up is tomorrow and I really hope to see you all there. The fiddler is about to hit the fan, and its free!
